  • To be eligible:
  • Caregivers must live in California
  • Caregivers must either work now in an eligible job role, or be interested in becoming one of the eligible provider types in a home- and community-based setting
  • Eligible provider types include: HHA, CNA, RN, LVN, home-based CHW, Respiratory or Occupational or Physical or Speech Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or other licensed HCBS healthcare professionals
  • Other restrictions may apply

El Proyecto Del Barrio is a program for current and prospective licensed or certified providers in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) or those working as a home Community Health Worker (CHW). Eligible participants must currently live in California.

Who Is Not Eligible

El Proyecto Del Barrio addresses the current and future demand in California for care providers in Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS).

Because of the program’s focus, the following provider types do not qualify for participation:

  • Healthcare workers or prospective care providers who don’t live in California
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers not interested in becoming an eligible HCBS healthcare provider type
  • Prospective or current healthcare workers not interested in becoming an eligible provider type in HCBS

Ineligible Job Settings

  • Hospitals (e.g., rehabilitation, long-term care, and psychiatric hospitals)
  • Nursing homes
  • Inpatient facilities
  • Outpatient facilities
  • Intermediate care facilities
